Labuin is a small barrio which is not very far from the Poblacion, bounded in the east by Bubukal, west by Duhat, south by San Juan, northeast by Gatid. A large portion of the barrio is relatively level land with rich loam soil suited for farming. It has a total population of one thousand five hundred ninety eight (1,598).
Long time ago, Labuin was sparsely populated. During these days it was the custom of the people that when a lady wished to marry, she would announce “ tipanan” whereiIn all suitors would come. From among these, she would select the lucky man. But before she select, the men would bring boiled unripe bananas to be mixed with sugar and young coconut to the house of the lady. It so happened that during the “tipanan” a heated conversation took place among the men because the lady whom they wished to marry could not decide at once who will be the lucky one among this suitors. So a commotion followed. Everybody was hurt. From the time on the place was called Labuan, Sometimes Pinaglabuan and as days passed it was shortened Labuin, now as it is popularly called.
